Some of our favorite stories begin with “Remember when….”. Throughout our day we count on our memory being sharp for tasks like finishing yesterday’s list of things to do, remembering where you parked the car, even finding your way home. For some people, these seemingly simple tasks can be impossible or overwhelming because of dementia or Alzheimer’s disease.

Alliance Senior Services is pleased to offer memory care at three locations for those dealing with the challenges of dementia and Alzheimer’s disease through the Ray of Sunshine program. We will celebrate the “forever” memories and provide assistance when some memories begin to fade. This program is designed so that residents remain as independent as possible, and each resident’s service plan is as individual as the resident. We encourage everyone involved to share personal preferences and make choices about their care.

Assistance in the Ray of Sunshine program can vary from friendly reminders to comprehensive memory care. Services include:

· 24 hour staff specially trained in dementia and Alzheimer care

· Assistance with medication management

· Special reminders for meal times, activities, and orientation to time and place

· Calendar of activities designed for memory care

· Assistance with personal care

· Special diets and meal planning

· All exit doors of the building are secured to prevent wandering

Prior to moving in, each resident’s needs and preferences are identified and a service plan is established. Routinely, the plan is reviewed to ensure the services provided meet the changing needs of each resident.
